
| Constitution ARTICLE I - NAME The name of this organization shall be University of Oklahoma Botanical Society (with the acronym OUBS), a nonprofit organization hereinafter referred to as the club. ARTICLE II - OBJECTIVES The objectives for which this club is organized are: 1. To promote academic excellence. 2. To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas with knowledgeable individuals from related academic and industrial fields. 3. To encourage social interaction between undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty members. ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP Section 1. Eligibility for membership in the club is set forth as follows: Any person is eligible for FULL MEMBERSHIP provided that: a. He/she is an undergraduate student with a declared botany major or a related biological science. b. He/she is an undergraduate student in another major and has an interest in botany. c. He/she indicates a desire to become a member of the club. Full membership privileges include the right to vote and hold office. Any person is eligible for ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP provided that: a. He/she is a graduate student, staff, or faculty member in the botany department or a related biological science. b. He/she is a graduate student, staff, or faculty member in another department and has an interest in botany. c. He/she indicates a desire to become a member of the club. Associate membership does not include the right to vote or hold office. Section 2. To become a member of the club, a person who is eligible must furnish his/her name, address, telephone number (if any) to the Secretary, and annual dues to the Treasurer. ARTICLE IV - EXPULSION Members of the club may be expelled in accordance with such procedure as may be established in the Bylaws for violation of this Constitution or for other conduct which would tend to cause discredit to fall upon the club or the university. ARTICLE V - RESIGNATIONS Any member has the perogative of resignation from membership in the club and any resignation will be recognized and accepted when submitted to the Secretary in writing. A member who resigns from the club forfeits any dues already rendered. ARTICLE VI - GOVERNMENT The government of the club shall be vested in the officers of the club who shall be nominated and elected in such a manner as may be prescribed in the Bylaws. The officers shall be a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. In addition, the club will have a Faculty Sponsor. ARTICLE VII - MEETINGS Section 1. Regular meetings shall be held at the place, and on the date, and at the time as determined in the manner prescribed in the Bylaws. Regular meetings shall be presided over by the President or succeeding officers. A quorum shall consist of 20% of the paid-up membership. Section 2. Special meetings may be called for any purposes by an officer of the club who shall preside over the meeting. A quorum shall consist of 20% of the paid-up membership. ARTICLE VIII - AMENDMENTS This Constitution may be amended in the following manner: a. Any proposed amendment shall be first presented at any regular or special meeting for approval. b. If approved by a majority vote of the members present, AT TWO CONSECUTIVE CLUB MEETINGS.
